I have always been a huge fan of these “top 20 facts about me” posts. As a reader, it helps me feel more connected to the blogger. Here’s my “top 28” list (because I am 28 years old). I had actually originally aimed for 20 but I couldn’t narrow it down enough. Enjoy :)
- I am the middle child, squished between an older sister and younger brother. My parents are typical Asian parents, so of course, they kept trying until they finally got a boy.
- I studied classical ballet for over 7 years.
- I also tap dance!
- When I was 24, I quit my job to travel. Then I quit my job again when I was 26 to go back to school.
- I have a really long second toe. It’s as long as my pinky finger!
- I love stretching. If I don’t stretch for at least 5-10 minutes every night, I won’t be able to fall asleep!
- I didn’t learn how to use chopsticks until I was around 14. It mainly had to do with the denial of my cultural identity.
- I lived abroad, in Paris, when I was 17 to learn French.
- I am super prone to cavities and every time I visit the dentist, I have to get at least 3-5 fillings. It’s so embarrassing and no matter how many times I brush and floss my teeth, I can’t seem to avoid cavities!
- I went skydiving at the summit of the Mont-Blanc for my boyfriend’s 33rd birthday. It was meant to be his birthday gift, but in the end, he ended up paying. I bought him a pair of Birkenstocks to make up for it afterwards 😉
Me skydiving at the Mont Blanc. Not my best face 😛 My boyfriend handled it a lot better than I did! - I don’t drink alcohol. I never liked the taste, and it makes me turn bright red.
- In university, I once took a Japanese class just so I could be in the same class as my crush. Nothing ever happened and I still can’t speak a word of Japanese.
- I love travelling and have visited over 40 countries, many of them as a solo female traveller 🙂
- My favourite country that I have ever visited is Indonesia – the people, the food, the scenery. Everything is just perfect about this little piece of heaven.
- I visited Switzerland for the first time in 2014, alone. I immediately fell in love with the country and set a life goal to move to Switzerland one day. Finally, in 2016, I achieved that goal 🙂
- My favourite colour is green. Second favourite is yellow.
- I grew up with 5 German shepherds (my dad’s friend was a breeder).
- I love making to-do lists, I think I make at least 1 or 2 lists every day. That’s how I stay organized.
- I started my first blog when I was around 14 years old. It was called “Bursted Bubble.”
- I failed my driver’s license the first time and lied to my parents that I’d passed. They didn’t find out until a year later.
- The worst grade I’d ever gotten in my life was a 76%, in dance!
- I’m a terrible swimmer but that doesn’t stop me from spending vacations on the beach and taking up extreme water sports like surfing and wakeboarding!
- I’m a certified yoga instructor but I have never taught for money.
- I can speak 4 languages. Can you guess what they are?
- Thanks to my mom, I bought my first house when I was 25. I will probably spend the next 25 years paying it off 😉
- I never dressed up for Halloween as a kid because my parents didn’t understand the concept. As such, I was always the only kid in class without a costume 🙁
- My boyfriend calls me a “fake girl” because I don’t wear makeup.
- My first job was working as a camp counsellor for 3-year-olds. I was really bad at disciplining the kids and basically let them run around wild doing whatever they wanted. Not good for my performance rating, but at least the kids sure loved me 🙂

I’m guessing you used chopsticks your whole life the “wrong way” aka like holding a pencil which most of us Asian North Americans do and learned the “official” way @ age 14 which is resting the lower chopstick above the ring finger which is mostly unnatural for Asian American who learned the “easy” way like “holding a pencil”
24. let me guess: Canadian with Asian background and a flair for Switzerland having stayed in Paris before – that’s English, French and I’ll guess Mandarin Chinese for the Asian non-Japanese background plus… hmmm… I could go for German (Switzerland) or Cantonese/ Hokkien or Taiwanese. Let me go with German since you’ve studied how to get a job in Switzerland or Germany. Right? Haha. Like your list and have fun in Lausanne! Matt
You’re good! English, French, Cantonese and Mandarin. I wish I could speak German but I gave up at around the A2 level… just can’t wrap my head around all those cases!
Laughed out loud at #20. Did you get punished he he?
Sort of! I had to re-enroll in driver’s ed so I guess that was punishment enough!
