Do you have a frugal minimalist friend or relative who is impossible to shop for? They seem to not want to own anything so material gifts don’t quite seem to work? I know I fall under this category for sure! Here is a gift guide of the top 10 gifts that even minimalist people would appreciate!
The first and most obvious answer is cash. Minimalists love receiving cash because they can do anything with the money (i.e. use it for practical things like paying the bills).
With cash, there are no hard feelings when you buy a minimalist something that he/she does not like. Cash is king!
2. Gift card
If you don’t like the idea of giving money, you can always give a gift card. Giving gift cards to their favourite stores, or even to Amazon works incredibly well! I know I love it whenever I receive Amazon gift cards as a present!
I had a friend send me a Bitcoin years ago and it was probably the best gift I’ve received to date! Not only did the Bitcoin appreciate a whole lot in value, but it has gotten me into investing in cryptocurrencies early on!
You can send your friend a Bitcoin by making an account on Coinbase! You’ll get your first $10 in cryptocurrencies for free!
4. Online courses
I love learning new skills and hobbies. It’s something that money just can’t buy!
Giving someone the gift of an online course can inspire a new love or interest that can last a lifetime! I used to teach piano lessons for free and now my students have become music majors and some even went on to be music teachers!
5. Plane ticket
If your minimalist friend is a travel nut, then why not buy them a vacation somewhere? My friend offered me a trip to Italy once and it’s definitely going down in history as one of the trips I won’t forget.
My favourite site to check on cheap flight tickets is Skyscanner.
6. A cool experience
As mentioned above, experiences are worth a lot more than material goods. I love trying new things like bungee jumping or skydiving or mountain biking.
Once thing I particularly love doing is checking through Groupon deals and seeing what sort of cool and fun experiences there are to try in the local community. What’s more, your frugal/minimalist friend will be glad to know that the gift was offered at a reduced price! Talk about more bang for your buck!
7. DIY kits
DIY kits are also a great way to give someone a gift and let them try a new hobby at the same time! Here are a bunch of DIY kits that I’d totally love to receive as a gift:
For those of us who love to journal and write down everything in a keepsake
For those who aren’t super artistically gifted but would love to get started painting!
Getting crafty and making something that is useful in the kitchen afterwards? Count me in!
Keep your lips moisturised with your own personalised lip balm!
For those who love craft beer… why not brew your own at home?
Kombucha is so healthy and easy to make at home! This kit is a MUST for kombucha lovers.
Lastly, I love kimchi and this kit teaches you everything you need to make it at home!
8. Multi-purpose cleaning supplies
Even though minimalists don’t have much stuff cluttering their house, they still like to keep their spaces clean. That’s why multi-purpose cleaning supplies makes a great gift for minimalists! Bonus points if the products are all natural!
This cleaner is non-toxic, biodegradable, and cleans just about everything from your tiles, carpets, and more!
I swear by this product. It’s organic, all-natural, and functions as body soap and shampoo at the same time!
9. Reusable and zero-waste products
Minimalists hate waste. Here are some reusable versions of daily products that a minimalist will love!
- Bamboo Charcoal Toothbrush
- Reusable Cotton Face Pads
- Reusable Cleaning Cloths
- Reusable Menstrual Pads
- Reusable Baby Diapers
10. Water filter
Lastly, chances are that at some point, your friend or relative is going to have to change their water filter. Give them a gift of a brand new pack of water filters, and even a filtered water pitcher if they don’t have one already!
I hope you enjoyed this gift guide for frugal minimalists! Shopping for minimalist friends and family members doesn’t have to be so challenging!
